88-91 Tailgate Cables with Metal Straps:

Open Tailgate and remove metal strap.

Remove bolts from tailgate striker plate and grind off factory rivet. 

Install new cable with new shoulder bolt (use Blue thread locker)

Repeat on other side

Re install striker plate into tailgate

Attach slotted end of cable onto the factory pin (Box Panel Side)
