About Classic Truck Radios & Speakers

A classic truck radio has to fit the factory dash opening and look like it belongs there, which is why a modern double-DIN head unit rarely works in a truck this old without cutting the dash. Custom Autosound builds radios that drop straight into the stock opening with a period-correct face and modern electronics behind it — Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary input depending on the model — plus speakers cut to the factory dash and kick panel holes.

Classic radio fitments

  • 1947-53, 1955-59, 1960-63, 1964-66, 1967-72 and 1973-87 Chevy and GMC trucks
  • 1968-72 Ford trucks

Dash and kick panel speakers

  • Dual dash speakers — 1947-53, 1955-59, 1960-63 and 1967-72 Chevy and GMC
  • DVC dual voice coil dash speakers — 1960-66 and 1967-72
  • Kick panel speakers — 1947-53, 1955-59, 1960-66, 1967-72 and 1973-79 Squarebody

Order the radio and the speakers separately

Radio and speaker fitments are sold as separate parts and do not always share a year range, so confirm both against your cab before ordering. Our own speaker brackets, cut to the factory openings, are listed on the era pages: 47-54, 55-59, 60-66, 67-72 C10 and 73-87 Squarebody.

While the dash is out

A radio swap is the easiest time to fit a billet double din dash or trim ring on a 1947-53 truck, or to run new speaker wire behind ABS kick panels.
