- 3/8" thick hinge arms pivoting on oil impregnated bushings and high strength shoulder bolts, for accurate and smooth operation.
- Weld on hood mounting plates with pressed in lock nuts.
- Black zinc coated, precision CNC cut and TIG welded HRPO steel.
- Made in the USA.

Not included
- Gas struts, unless you choose the hinges-and-struts option. Struts are also sold on their own for anyone who bought the hinge kit alone.
- A welder. The hood mounting brackets are weld-on.
- The inner fenders. This kit exists because pulling them means the hood hinges have to move to the cowl.

Hood Hinge & Strut Kit - 67-72 GMC Chevy Truck
Common questions
What comes in the hood strut kit?
Two firewall mounting brackets, two hood mounting brackets, two heavy duty sealed bearing gas struts, four 5/16" ball studs and all the mounting hardware, including the low profile hood mount bolts. Finish options are listed at the top of the page.
Will it work with a fibreglass or aftermarket hood?
The kit is designed around the factory steel hood and has not been tested on aftermarket or fibreglass hoods. On a lighter or heavier hood the strut rate can be too much or not enough, so treat it as untested rather than confirmed.
Will my hood still line up afterwards?
Plan on realigning it. If the truck currently runs no hood springs or struts at all, the back of the hood near the cowl will very likely pop up once the strut force is added, and the hinges and latch will need adjusting. It happens on trucks with factory springs too, just less often.
Does the hood open as high as it did on the prop rod?
Not always. The strut sets the open height, and on some trucks that height sits below where a prop rod held it. That is the kit working as designed, not an install error.
How do I know it fits my truck?
This part is listed for 1967–1972 Chevy and GMC C10 and Suburban. The full year, make and model list is in the Truck Compatibility tab on this page. If your truck has been modified, or you are between two of the year ranges we list, send us the year, make and model and we will confirm the fit before you order rather than after.
What if it is not right for the truck?
You have 30 days from delivery to return it by mail. Return shipping is on you, and the part needs to come back uninstalled and unmodified - once a panel has been trimmed or welded it cannot go back. Made-to-order items are final sale. The full terms are on our returns page.
