Late-model squarebody C10s have never had many good hinge options. CVF Racing's answer for 1981–1987 Chevy and GMC trucks uses a patent-pending design that fits standard-size gas struts inside the assembly — no giant springs, and no cutting into the firewall or fender.

Installation
No modification is required. The hinges mount directly to the OEM locations underneath the cowl, so there are no flimsy templates to line up and no holes to drill.
No fender modification is needed either.

Common questions
Do I have to modify the hood or inner fenders?
No. They mount at the factory hinge locations, and the adjustment is built into the hinge itself, so the hood can be set without stacking shims.
Do they hold the hood up on their own?
Yes. Gas struts are part of the hinge assembly, so the hood stays up without a prop rod, and the pivots run on sealed bearings.
Does it matter if my hood is steel or fibreglass?
Yes. The gas struts are matched to hood weight, so choose the steel or fibreglass option at the top of the page to match the hood on your truck.
How long is the lead time?
Around 7-10 days on the standard finish. Ceramic clear coat, Stealth Black and Black Diamond are finished to order and can run 4-6 weeks. They carry CVF's limited lifetime warranty.

What if it is not right for the truck?
You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. The part needs to come back new, uninstalled and in its original packaging - once a part has been trimmed or welded it cannot go back.
