Installation
The ACI motors are reverse polarity. The ground for the system has to come from the master switch, and the motor's two poles take power on one side and ground on the other, not to the motor case; swapping the wires side to side reverses the direction. Most of our harnesses come with an in-line 30 amp fuse, and a circuit breaker works too. Power can come straight off the battery, from a spare slot in the fuse panel using the supplied fuse, or from the key-on side of the switch. You will not usually need a relay — our switches and wiring handle the amp draw — but old-style 3-pole switches need a special polarity-reversing relay, which we stock prewired; call 336-699-8949.
For lubrication, use a high-temp automotive wheel bearing and chassis lubricant such as NLGI grade 2 on the regulator gear teeth and roller tracks, and stay away from older soap-based lithium grease, which sets up hard in cold weather and makes the windows harder to move. A few drops of lightweight oil at the pivots lets the Bronze Oilite bushings run smoothly. 3M silicone spray helps break in the fuzzy runs and weather stripping, and dielectric grease or Tuner Lube on the terminals protects against moisture and corrosion.

Power Window Kit - 1947-1950 GMC/Chevy Truck
Common questions
Do the doors have to be modified?
No. The regulators are model specific, so they bolt into the original mounting holes and run in the stock window channels. The door looks and works the same from outside.
What is in the kit?
Two front door regulators, left and right, plus two new ACI motors. Switches are a separate choice at the top of the page - order a switch kit and the conduit is included at no extra charge; order without switches and you get motor plugs and terminals instead.
Is there a warranty?
A lifetime warranty applies with a copy of your sales receipt or invoice, so keep the paperwork.
How do I know it fits my truck?
This part is listed for 1947–1950 Chevy and GMC 3100, 3600 and 3800. The full year, make and model list is in the Truck Compatibility tab on this page. If your truck has been modified, or you are between two of the year ranges we list, send us the year, make and model and we will confirm the fit before you order rather than after.
How long before it ships?
It is a stock item and leaves our warehouse in 1-3 business days. Transit after that is typically 2-5 business days in the United States. Larger orders can arrive in more than one box on different days.
What if it is not right for the truck?
You have 30 days from delivery to return it by mail. Return shipping is on you, and the part needs to come back uninstalled and unmodified - once a panel has been trimmed or welded it cannot go back. Made-to-order items are final sale. The full terms are on our returns page.
