Description
This kit takes the fuel filler off the bed side of a 1988–1998 Chevy or GMC OBS truck and hides it behind the taillight. It was designed using 3D scanning and CAD, so the filler tucks in neatly and the gas cap disappears from the outside of the truck.
Features
- Includes a stainless steel fuel filler neck.
- Precision-fit CNC laser-cut steel construction.
- Grab latch secures the door when it is closed.
- Works with OEM taillights.
Choose your options
- Driver side or passenger side
- Add a pair of red lens LED taillights, or no taillights
- Stock taillights or United Pacific taillights
- Add the gas filler delete panel, or skip it
Fitment notes
This kit does not fit the Suburban, Tahoe or Stepside. It has only been tested with stock taillights and the United Pacific lights offered in this listing, so confirm it will work with your setup before you order.
It may not fit fuel nozzles with vapor-seal systems, such as the pumps used in California.

Installation
LS Fabrication does not currently offer a hose or plumbing kit to connect the filler to the tank — plumbing design, routing and installation are the installer's responsibility. We recommend 1.5" stainless steel tubing with fuel-rated hose connectors and quality hose clamps. Keep the plumbing as straight as you can, minimize bends and turns, and hold the maximum downward slope from the filler neck to the tank.
Venting: this kit does not provide tank venting. Your fuel tank needs its own adequate vent system, or you will run into slow filling, splash-back and pump shutoff.

Common questions
Does the taillight fuel filler fit a stepside bed?
No. These kits are cut and formed for the fleetside (wideside) bed on the years listed, because the filler assembly mounts behind the bedside taillight panel that a stepside bed does not have. On a stepside the usual route is a bed floor or inside box panel filler instead. Send us a photo of your bed and we will tell you which one suits it before you order.
Does the kit come with taillights?
Not by default. The kit is the filler assembly, the polished 1.5" stainless filler neck, the roller bearing taillight hinge, the mounting hardware and the push magnet. LED taillights and reverse lights are an add-on option at the top of the page, sold as a pair with a flasher included. Your original housings and lenses bolt straight back onto the laser cut mounting holes if you would rather keep them.
What size fuel hose does the filler neck take?
The neck is 1.5" in diameter, so it takes 1.5" ID fuel filler hose and a matching hose clamp. Both are ordinary parts-store items. A tank with a side fill bung is the easiest thing to plumb it into.
Will it work with every gas pump?
It may not work with fuel nozzles that carry a vapour sealing device or pressure seal, which is what most California pumps use. Everywhere those nozzles are not mandated, the filler takes a normal nozzle. If the truck fills slowly after the install, the cause is almost always the routing of the fill hose rather than the neck itself - keep the run as short and as straight as you can and avoid a high loop that traps air.
How do I know it fits my truck?
This part is listed for 1988–1998 Chevy and GMC Blazer, C1500, C2500, C3500, Jimmy, K1500 and others. The full year, make and model list is in the Truck Compatibility tab on this page. If your truck has been modified, or you are between two of the year ranges we list, send us the year, make and model and we will confirm the fit before you order rather than after.
How long before it ships?
It is a stock item and leaves our warehouse in 1-3 business days. Transit after that is typically 2-5 business days in the United States. Larger orders can arrive in more than one box on different days.
