Reviews
Tilt Bed Scissor Hinges (Billet Aluminum) for All Trucks
Common questions
How much weight will the hinges carry?
They are double armed and cut from 3/16" 304 stainless or machined from 3/16" 6061 billet, assembled on 3/8" stainless bolts with the hole tolerances tightened to 3/8" to take the play out. They are built for a tilting hood, a tilt bed floor or a custom opening panel. A complete bed - floor, wheel wells and sides together - is a heavier job than a single panel, so tell us what the bed is made of and how it is braced and we will say whether this pair is the right choice.
Are they sold singly or as a pair?
As a pair. Each hinge has a 3.5" x 1" mounting face at both mounting locations.
Can I paint them?
Yes, but raw stainless hinges have to come apart first. There are several components, so take detailed photos before you disassemble anything and allow time for the reassembly.
What will hold the bed up once it tilts — and will your electric lifts do it?
Work it out on our gas spring calculator. Put in the length and weight of the panel, how far you want it to open and where the strut mounts land, and it gives you the force, stroke, extended and compressed lengths to order, warns you when the closed mounting distance is too short for any off-the-shelf strut to physically fit, and checks the same numbers against our electric tilt bed lifts so you know before you buy whether the pair is rated for your build. Where the mounts sit moves the answer more than anything else, so try a few positions in the calculator before you drill.
How do I know it fits my truck?
This part is listed for 1947–1999 Chevy and GMC 3100, 3600, 3800, Blazer, C10, C1500 and others. The full year, make and model list is in the Truck Compatibility tab on this page. If your truck has been modified, or you are between two of the year ranges we list, send us the year, make and model and we will confirm the fit before you order rather than after.
What if it is not right for the truck?
You have 30 days from delivery to return it by mail. Return shipping is on you, and the part needs to come back uninstalled and unmodified - once a panel has been trimmed or welded it cannot go back. Made-to-order items are final sale. The full terms are on our returns page.
